Uni Apart receives building law for new co-living-project

Uni Apart - the specialists for student apartments - were able to achieve a significant step in the course of obtaining building rights for "Uni Apart - The Green House on the Ring" in Neu-Ulm. This is already Uni Apart's second project in the university twin city of Ulm/Neu-Ulm.

After an intensive planning and coordination phase with the committees of the city of Neu-Ulm in recent months, the resolution on the project-related development plan was passed on 20.10.2020 with almost complete approval. The latest project in Neu-Ulm comprises a gross floor area of approximately 22,800 m² and is a mixed-use development with 257 student and 20 business apartments, 34 apartments, four commercial units and a two-storey underground car park.

A shopping center was built on the approximately 5,800 m² site in the post-war years, which was later used as a market hall. Subsequently, the area was converted into a leisure facility with bowling, billiards and golf simulators. An upgrading of the existing building stock from an energy, design and quality point of view proved to be unfeasible. Thus, planning for a new development to revitalize the recently unused urban wasteland began in the summer of 2019. The purchase of the area took place at the end of 2019.

According to the managing director of the Uni Apart Group, Mr. Alexander Orthmann, it was possible to develop an innovative and energetically valuable project for the environment and the residents at a prospering science and business location together with the involved committees of the city of Neu-Ulm and the planning team.

Currently, preparatory construction measures are taking place on the site of the former bowling center. Construction is scheduled to begin as early as the beginning of 2021.

As a pioneering project, the new construction project within walking distance of Neu-Ulm's main train station will provide inspiration for further developments at Uni Apart. The newly created brand "The Green House" stands for well thought-out mixing within a neighborhood, responsible use of valuable space in urban areas, ecologically sustainable planning and climate-neutral operation of the facilities.

Uni Apart already has ten projects at five locations and more than 1,300 residential units in southern Germany and specializes in the development, construction and operation of modern student apartment buildings. Further projects are already in the planning stage.
